A pandemic. Racism. Economic turmoil. It’s leaving some of us with anxiety, stress, depression and feelings of defeat.

Our self-care is getting bogged down by the weight of all the unknowns in our lives.

Have you ever thought about meditating? Experts say it can ease our minds and bodies and help us build resilience.

Are you new to mindfulness meditation? Are you a seasoned disciple? Two experts joined MPR News host Angela Davis to talk about it.

Before the meditation segment, Angela interviewed the founder of an effort to amplify the voices of Black women via social media.

Guests:

  • Jasmine Stringer is the founder of “Share The Mic MN,” a local initiative based on the national “Share The Mic NOW” campaign to amplify the voices of Black women. Every Wednesday, white allies hand over their social media platform to give Black and Brown women the opportunity to connect and engage with new audiences.

  • Maureen Doran is the lead facilitator for mindfulness training at the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing at Allina Health.

  • Mariann Johnson is a mindfulness and well-being instructor at the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing.
