Phil Collins was No. 1 on the U.S. pop chart 30 years ago with “Another Day in Paradise.”
Collins has said the song was inspired by a visit to Washington D.C., where he saw people living in boxes. He faced criticism when it was released from people who wondered what a wealthy pop star knew about homelessness. He told the New York Times that was “a lot of rubbish.”
“When I drive down the street, I see the same things everyone else sees. It's a misconception that if you have a lot of money you're somehow out of touch with reality.''
