Lawmakers trying to find common ground on insulin

Minnesota lawmakers are struggling to find a way to help people who can’t afford the insulin they need to control their diabetes. In response to the soaring cost of the drug, the Minnesota House and Senate both passed bills earlier this year that would help people who aren’t able to pay for their insulin, but they couldn’t agree on the details.

Lawmakers have been meeting for weeks to try to reach a compromise, but they’ve blown their self-imposed deadline. Governor Tim Walz has called for these private talks to become public. He wants public hearings.
