The joy and grief of an empty nest

Hundreds of thousands of students are enrolled in Minnesota colleges this fall, according to the state’s Office of Higher Education. Some of those students will be living away from their parents for the first time. Parents want their kids to become independent, but there’s a flip side. For many, this moment also comes with a sense of grief.

On Monday, host Angela Davis talked about empty nest syndrome — that overwhelming feeling of loss for parents who have no more children under their roof. She talked about how to cope with those feelings and how to maintain a healthy relationship with your adult children.

Guests:

Dr. Dave Walsh, parenting expert and father of three adult children.

Porsche Peak, licensed marriage and family therapist.
