A chilly weekend wraps up with highs holding in the 50s and 60s. Some brief sunshine may peek through early, with clearing skies expected later in the day. Cooler temperatures will persist into the start of the work week, with our next chance for beneficial rain arriving Monday into Tuesday.

With only breaks in the cloud cover on Sunday, cooler temperatures will linger in the 50s and 60s across the state, while the Arrowhead region stays in the 40s. 

Increasing easterly winds will arrive Sunday night, ahead of our next weather maker in the Rockies.

Temperatures Sunday night will once again drop into the 30s and low 40s, with a continued threat of frost. Warmer temperatures in the low 40s for the metro area should help keep our plants safe from frost.

Beneficial rain will move into western and southern Minnesota starting early Monday, with rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches possible in these areas due to the approaching low-pressure system.

While this system will track further south through the Central Plains, the northern edge of the precipitation shield will bring much-needed rainfall to the southern half of the state. Showers will struggle to reach areas north of Interstate 94.

This low-pressure system will be slow to exit, keeping cloud cover and lingering showers in place through Wednesday. Northern Minnesota will experience warmer temperatures and less cloud cover, while a state-wide warm-up is expected Thursday and Friday.
