A red flag warning is posted for much of the state midday into the evening Monday. Tuesday will likely continue the critical fire weather conditions for much of the state.

There’s also an air quality alert due to elevated ozone for much of central and western Minnesota Monday. Check the latest air quality conditions, alerts and forecasts here:
Tuesday and Wednesday will both continue to be hot with temperatures running 15 to 20 degrees above normal — in the 80s and low 90s west.
The pattern finally shifts mid to late week as the upper-level ridge of heat and clear skies shifts east. This will allow dew points to increase and make way for disturbances to bring needed chances of rain.
Scattered showers and thunder develop in western Minnesota late Wednesday and expand east into Wednesday night and Thursday.

We could see a widespread decent rainfall starting Wednesday night into Thursday with lingering showers Friday and even Saturday.

The pattern change will also include cooler temperatures near or even slightly below normal in the 60s for southern Minnesota and 50s north Friday into the weekend.
