A 67-year-old Brooklyn Park man is dead and five others sustained what the State Patrol described as non-life-threatening injuries during a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 35W southbound between U.S. Highway 10 in Shoreview and Mounds View and County Road I in Arden Hills Tuesday morning.

Kirby Kyle Schwarzkopf, who was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala, was killed.

A report from the State Patrol says a “merging conflict” led to a chain reaction crash which eventually entangled seven vehicles — including three semi trucks. An initial report said eight vehicles were involved.

The stretch of highway was closed for about four hours following the crash.
