It’s beginning to look a lot like May.

May 1 is just nine days away now. Highs in the 70s are popping up more frequently. We managed to tickle the 70-degree mark across much of central and southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon:

Wednesday brings another sunny day near 70 degrees to southern Minnesota.

Next rain Thursday

Thursday brings another soaking rain to much of Minnesota. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NAM 3 km model shows showers growing in aerial coverage across the state Thursday. The forecast model loop below runs between 7 a.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday.

The heaviest rainfall Thursday is expected south and east of the Twin Cities, where another inch may fall:

Friday and Saturday trend drier. Then another system brings chances for rain and thunder later Sunday through Monday of next week.

Highs Monday could reach the 70s to 80 degrees in southern Minnesota. There is a thunder threat next Monday.
