Friday will be cooler and windy with lingering shower chances. The weekend will be brighter but slightly cooler than normal.
Cooler and brighter into the weekend before more rain Sunday night
Storms delivered some severe weather and rainfall Thursday. There was a wind damage report in Easton in southern Minnesota which knocked over power poles and removed a barn roof. The worst weather was in Nebraska and Iowa with 16 tornado reports.

Heavy rain fell in parts of south-central and southeast Minnesota. A swath of 1 to 3 inches of rain fell from Mankato through Waseca to Rochester. Hollandale, just north of Albert Lea, received 2.94 inches of rainfall!

It’s a cooler and windy day Friday in the wake of that storm system and cold front. Winds will blow at 10-20 mph from the northwest in eastern Minnesota and closer to 15-30 mph in western Minnesota. Afternoon highs will be mostly in the 50s south to 40s north.

We’ll see some lingering spotty showers Friday in the wake of last night’s cool front and a mix of clouds and sunshine today.

Saturday will feature brighter skies except in northeast Minnesota where clouds will linger. Highs will be slightly cooler than normal, mostly in the 50s and 60s. Sunday will be a bit warmer, in the 50s and close to 60 with increasing clouds later in the day.

The next chance at rain showers moves in late Sunday evening into Monday with another chance moving in later Tuesday as well.

The bulk of the rainfall with the Sunday night/Monday system will fall for the Twin Cities and southeast Minnesota into western Wisconsin. Up to 1 inch of rain could fall or more in portions of southeast Minnesota.

Beyond that, next week looks to bring slightly above normal temperatures with highs in the 60s in southern Minnesota with 50s north.
