Thursday thunder gives way to a quieter Easter weekend

Our Thursday thunder produced some nice downpours, lightning, and some hail around parts of Minnesota.

But we escaped any significant severe weather from the Twin Cities northward. The severe thunderstorm watch is cancelled for the Twin Cities area.

  • 4 NW Onamia [Mille Lacs Co, MN] Cocorahs reports Hail of quarter size (E1.00 Inch) at 12:26 PM CDT -- A few quarter size hail stones. Mostly pea size.

  • 2 E Nye [Polk Co, WI] Public reports Hail of quarter size (E1.00 Inch) at 12:49 PM CDT -- Dime to quarter size hail.

  • 2 W Stillwater [Washington Co, MN] Public reports Hail of penny size (E0.75 Inch) at 12:07 PM CDT -- Report from mPING: Dime (0.75 in.).

  • 2 NE Vadnais Heights [Ramsey Co, MN] Public reports Hail of mothball size (E0.50 Inch) at 12:02 PM CDT -- Report from mPING: Half-inch (0.50 in.).

Friday brings cooler breezes and spotty showers. Highs will run in the 50s south and 40s north.

Saturday brings more sunshine and highs mainly in the 50s.
