April starts Tuesday but winter is holding on
Enjoy one quiet, dry day with partly cloudy skies Monday. Afternoon highs will be near 40 degrees for most of central and southern Minnesota with 30s north. Winds should be relatively light.

Tuesday is April 1 and it’s no joke — winter isn’t done with Minnesota quite yet. The next storm system will come in with a mix of rain and snow Tuesday morning in western Minnesota and expand east and northeast through the day into Wednesday.

A winter storm watch is posted for Tuesday into Wednesday night for portions of Minnesota.

Southern Minnesota will get mostly rain. Central and northern Minnesota will see mostly snow. The Twin Cities is likely to see both. Snow totals look heaviest for central and northeastern Minnesota and the North Shore.

After the system leaves early Thursday, the weather should be quieter with sunshine returning Friday along with slightly warmer temperatures, into the 50s for southern Minnesota.
