Our early April storm system is still on track for Tuesday. The latest forecast model indications Monday afternoon are leaning toward more rain mixing in with snow in the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Our stronger April sun can penetrate snow systems and warm them a couple of critical degrees during the daytime. That can change snow to rain in the afternoon, and warm soggy thawed ground can limit how much snow actually sticks.

Throw in a warm layer above ground and you can get mixed precipitation types. I don't think we’ll see much ice Tuesday with temperatures at ground level above the freezing mark.

So I expect a mix of rain and snow in the Twin Cities Tuesday afternoon into evening. But we could get a couple hours of heavy snow especially early Tuesday evening as the strongest system dynamics and lift pass overhead.
