A big warming trend in the forecast promises plenty of melting snow and slush, so it might not be time to wash the car.
Big melt
By the end of the weekend, it will be hard to believe that the Twin Cities region was buried this week under 6 to 12 inches of snow. Weekend temperatures will soar into the 50s and 60s, while the average high is typically in the upper 30s!

Our warming trend continues into next week. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center's six to 10-day temperature outlook predicts above-average temperatures extending well into the middle of March.

Light snow to the northeast
A clipper system will pass through the northeastern parts of the state late Friday night into early Saturday. Light snow accumulation is possible, ranging from a dusting to up to 2 inches.

Daylight saving time
It's that time of year to spring our clocks forward by one hour and enjoy later sunsets. Our current sunset times are in the early 6 p.m. hour, but they will shift to the early 7 p.m. hour starting March 9.

Each day in March, we gain over three minutes of daylight.
Brighter days are ahead!
