A calm Sunday night followed by a mild Monday with high temperatures warming into the 50s, and possibly reaching our first 60-degree day of the year in southwestern Minnesota. We're keeping an eye on a strong spring storm set to hit Tuesday into Wednesday, which could bring some travel disruptions to the area.
The calm before the storm
Clear skies and light south winds are expected for Sunday night, with temperatures dipping into the upper 20s to low 30s. The northeastern areas may see temperatures drop into the teens.

Light rain showers may pop up Monday afternoon as temperatures rise into the mid-50s, with the Buffalo Ridge area potentially reaching its first 60-degree day of the year.

Temperatures will stay above average through Tuesday, with highs reaching the upper 40s to low 50s in southeastern Minnesota, while other areas will see highs in the 30s and low 40s.

Strong spring storm system midweek
March arrives "in like a lion" as a significant weather system begins to develop over the Central Plains and Upper Midwest. Widespread rainfall, accumulating snowfall, and gusty winds are expected to move in by Tuesday into Wednesday.

On Tuesday, with warmer temperatures, expect all rain. However, as the low-pressure system strengthens, it will pull in colder air, switching the precipitation to all snow by late Tuesday night into early Wednesday.

Plowable snow, potentially over 2 inches, is possible, and gusty northwest winds behind the cold front will create blowing snow, leading to hazardous travel conditions.

Further details will be provided as we get closer to the event.
