Brisk northwesterly winds will persist through Thursday night and intensify by Friday with gusts potentially exceeding 50 mph. Snow showers are mainly expected in the northeastern part of the state with a chance of rain mixing in as temperatures rise overnight.

Northwesterly winds will intensify on Friday with sustained winds between 25 to 35 mph, and gusts up to 50 mph.

A wind advisory will be in effect starting Thursday night for western Minnesota, and at 9 a.m. Friday for southeastern areas.

Northeastern Minnesota could see accumulating snowfall from Thursday night into Friday. Winter storm warnings are in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday until noon on Friday.

The Arrowhead region could pick up a swath of 4 to 9 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts possible.

Friday will bring blustery winds, partly sunny skies, and temperatures rising to the low to mid-40s. The 30s will be limited to northern Minnesota, where some cloud cover will persist.
