Above-normal temperatures continue; snow north Thursday night into Friday

It’ll be another mild day Thursday. Winds increase Friday as the next disturbance brings snow tonight for northern Minnesota. It will be followed by one day of colder temps Saturday. 

Above-normal temps through Friday; snow north

Thursday will be yet another day of above-normal temperatures. We’ll likely be a few degrees cooler than the last few days however. Wednesday marked our third consecutive day of highs in the 50s in the Twin Cities.

The average number of 50-degree or warmer days is just one. It will be breezy with west winds 10 to 15 mph, to even near 20 mph along Interstate 90.

Friday will again bring highs in the 40s and low 50s to southern Minnesota with 30s north. We’ll have a mix of clouds and sun Friday.

Snow showers, mixing with some rain will develop for northern Minnesota Thursday evening into Friday midday. Southern Minnesota will stay mostly dry.

Portions of northeastern Minnesota and the Arrowhead region could see several or more inches of fresh, wet snowfall.

A winter storm warning goes into effect 9 p.m. Thursday through 12 p.m. Friday for northern Lake and Cook counties (in pink on the map below).

It will also be windy Friday with winds at 15 to 30 mph. Gusts will be as high as 50 mph in western Minnesota.

Colder air will briefly visit the state Saturday before temperatures warm yet again by Sunday into early next week.
