The Ice Palace in Delano is closing permanently after this season. The family-run business announced in a statement that its final day will be March 2. The family cited warm weather during last year’s season as one of the reasons for the closure.
“Unfortunately, after last year’s challenging season — where we were only able to open for four days — we faced significant hurdles in bouncing back. We knew we had to give it one more try, and we are so grateful that we did,” the Youngstrom family said in the statement. “This season has reminded us of the wonder, laughter and togetherness that the Ice Palace was meant to bring families.”
According to the company’s website, Jim and Shannon Youngstrom, their six kids and their children’s spouses are involved in making the ice palace every year.
“While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us. Your visits, kind words and shared memories have meant the world to us,” the family said.
