Lingering snow showers will persist until late Saturday morning to early afternoon. High pressure will clear the clouds and usher in a colder air mass.
Central Minnesota and the northern metro area woke up to a fresh coating of snow. Preliminary reports of snowfall amounts include:
Coon Rapids — 3.3 inches
Forest Lake — 4.0 inches
Lindstrom — 4.8 inches
Osakis — 5.5 inches
East Bethel 5.8 inches
Princeton — 5.9 inches
Lingering snow showers will produce another 1-2 inches of snow for the metro area, with higher amounts further east.

Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings continue until 3 p.m. Saturday.

High temperatures will reach the lower to mid 20s in the metro and areas to the southeast, with single digits and teens expected elsewhere.

Cold Canadian high pressure will begin to settle into the Upper Midwest. With a fresh snowpack in places, and clear skies our low temperatures will take a dive. Lows will dip below zero Saturday night, with winds picking up slightly.

Another surge of arctic air
Monday night another blast of arctic air arrives. Cold weather advisories may be needed for Tuesday and Wednesday in northern Minnesota.
Winds chill temperatures Tuesday morning will drop to 20 below zero for the Twin Cities, and even 30 to 40 below zero for central and northern Minnesota.

Below average temperatures will linger through at least mid-week before more seasonal temperatures return by Friday.
