Our latest winter storm brought 3 to 8 inches of snow across the metro area. As high pressure moves in, it will clear the skies and cause overnight temperatures to plunge below zero.

With clear skies and a fresh snowpack, temperatures are expected to drop Saturday night. Lows will range from single digits above and below zero in central and southern Minnesota, while northwestern areas will see teens below zero.

Sunday will bring sunshine with southwest winds at 5-15 mph. Temperatures will be just below the average of 26 degrees, with single digits and teens expected in central and northern Minnesota.

Frosty work week ahead

Monday night we will see another surge of arctic air, and the possibility of some light snow for southern Minnesota with minor accumulations.

Wind chill temperatures on Tuesday morning will be extremely cold, reaching 20 below zero in the metro, and 30 to 40 degrees below zero in western and northern Minnesota. Cold weather advisories are likely to be issued due to these wind chill values.
