Snow develops Wednesday afternoon; more snow Saturday
Our active weather week continues as the next system moves into Minnesota. A winter weather advisory goes into effect Wednesday afternoon for northeastern Minnesota into early Thursday morning.
We’ll see snow showers develop mainly this afternoon and evening into the overnight for much of northern and central Minnesota. Plan on a slow evening commute.
The heavier snowfall totals will once again be mostly in northeastern Minnesota where several inches or more could fall in spots. Totals drop off farther south.

It’ll also be briefly warmer Wednesday with highs in the upper 20s across southern Minnesota and mostly teens north.
Colder air slides back in along with windy conditions Thursday. Winds will gust as high as 35 to 45 mph Thursday afternoon. We should also see some sunshine.
The next storm system takes aim at Minnesota for Saturday. Snow is likely to develop late Friday night into Saturday with the heaviest snow falling midday Saturday.
That system could bring more significant snowfall totals for central Minnesota, including possibly the Twin Cities. Forecast models have now consistently painted the highest totals across central Minnesota Saturday.
Behind the system Saturday, colder air moves in for early next week. Highs Monday will be in the teens across southern Minnesota and remain below zero northwest. Monday night will bring a very frigid night with lows near 20 below zero north.
