Busy weather conditions for the Northland, with winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories in place until Sunday. Southern parts of the state will see temperatures in the 30s and 40s, along with strong southeast winds.

Our next real shot at some winter weather will be hitting the northeast hard today. The timing will start later Saturday morning, eventually reaching the arrowhead by early afternoon.

Winds will be howling from the southeast, with wind advisories in effect for southwestern Minnesota, spanning from Yellow Medicine to Martin counties. Gusts could exceed 40 mph in these areas.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories are in effect for the northeastern part of the state. Snowfall totals of 6 inches or more are likely along the North Shore, with some areas potentially seeing up to 10 inches. Much of the Northland can expect a widespread 2-6 inches of snow.

Central Minnesota, including the metro area, could receive anywhere from half an inch of snow in the southern metro to over an inch in the north metro. Areas from St. Cloud to Mille Lacs are expected to see 1-3 inches of fresh snow.

Temperatures across the state will range from the 20s up north to the 30s and even 40s in southwestern Minnesota. With these warmer temperatures, we can expect the snow to be heavier and wetter.
