It’s the warmest Jan. 28 air in 133 years in much of Minnesota. Temperatures hit 47 degrees in the Twin Cities Tuesday. That ties the record of 47 degrees set way back in 1892.
You can see on the map at the top of this post that temperatures reached 50 degrees across southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon.
Temperatures Tuesday across our region are at least 20 degrees warmer than normal. The normal high for the Twin Cities for Jan. 28 is 24 degrees!
Wednesday brings a slight speed bump in our bonus second January thaw this year. Temperatures will be about 10 degrees colder across Minnesota Wednesday.
Thursday looks every bit as warm as Tuesday across most of Minnesota:

Thursday’s record high in the Twin Cities is 48 degrees last set in 1989. We have a shot to tie or break that record on Thursday.
