Snow north, very mild south Tuesday

Snow will push through northeastern Minnesota while southern Minnesota sees very mild temperatures. Wednesday will be slightly cooler statewide.

Snow in NE Minnesota; balmy Tuesday south

Snow showers will continue in northeastern Minnesota Tuesday thanks to a second quickly moving clipper system moving through the region.

Several inches of snow could fall into parts of the Arrowhead through the day Tuesday. Southern Minnesota meanwhile will see some hazy sunshine.

There will be a temperature contrast as a result of the snow falling north and sunshine south. Highs will be well into the 40s across southern Minnesota Tuesday afternoon while northeastern Minnesota is only near 30 degrees.

It will another wind day too with winds from the west at 10 to 20 mph even 25 to 35 mph in western Minnesota with higher gusts.

It’ll be briefly cooler Wednesday behind the clipper system but temperatures will still run 5 to 15 degrees above normal.

Thursday will be warmer again with highs well into the 40s and likely our warmest day of this week before things cool off Friday. We could be in record territory. The record high in the Twin Cities Thursday is 48 set back in 1989.

Friday into the weekend will bring highs in the 30s for southern Minnesota and 20s north. We’re also watching a couple systems that could bring rain and snow showers to the region. Right now, models favor northern Minnesota for snowfall primarily.
