MNsure says a record number of Minnesotans signed up for 2025 health insurance for the new year through the state Affordable Care Act insurance marketplace.
More than 167,000 Minnesotans got 2025 health plans through MNsure, MNsure CEO Libby Caulum said, and six in 10 people will receive federal tax credits to bring down the cost of their premiums.
“What that number means is that we have more Minnesotans than ever before who are able to access health care when they need it, and folks who will be able to know that they’ve got comprehensive coverage that not only helps keep their families healthy, but also saves them from finance, financial burdens of high unexpected medical costs if they do get sick or injured,” said Caulum.
Only through MNsure can people who meet income eligibility requirements get federal tax credit to help cover their healthcare expenses.
“Most people who are getting insurance are getting financial help to help cover the cost of that insurance. And I’m proud to say that the average household tax credit for eligible families is about $6,450 and that's a huge savings for folks who are purchasing health insurance,” Caulum said.
Open enrollment is over for 2025 plans, but there are special enrollment opportunities for people with major life changes throughout the year.
