St. Paul police say missing Apple Valley man died

The St. Paul Police Department said a pizza delivery driver reported missing a week ago died by suicide Tuesday afternoon.

Shuefuab “Shue” Xiong, 42, was reported missing to Apple Valley police on Jan. 14. Xiong reported for work at a Domino’s Pizza in Apple Valley, but did not make his four scheduled deliveries.

“Officers checked the areas of each missed delivery and did not locate Xiong or his vehicle,” the Apple Valley Police Department reported on Jan. 16.

A 911 call around noon on Jan. 21 said Xiong was threatening to take his own life and had access to firearms being kept inside a residence in the 1100 block of Rice Street. St. Paul police responded and instructed family members to exit the building.

Police said the family made efforts to contact Xiong to ask him to leave the building to get help, but Xiong ran out of the building and around the corner, where he shot himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene, despite lifesaving efforts.

A press release from SPPD said the circumstances around the incident remain under investigation.

“The St. Paul Police Department expresses our deepest condolences to Mr. Xiong’s family during
this incredibly difficult time,” the statement said.
