A light dusting of snow and freezing drizzle is possible early Monday as a clipper system moves through the state. Temperatures will stay mild throughout the holiday week with no significant travel disruptions anticipated.
There is a slight chance of light freezing drizzle and a dusting of snow early Monday morning. The clipper system will move out by Monday afternoon, leaving behind some cloud cover and light north-northwest winds.
Temperatures will rise into the lower 30s, while the northern and western areas of the state will see highs in the low to mid-20s.
Fog is possible Monday night into Tuesday morning. Lows will dip into the 20s in southeastern Minnesota while northern Minnesota will experience chilly single-digit temperatures.
A white Christmas is still on track despite the melting that will take place before Wednesday. Areas that received more than a couple of inches from last Thursday's system will still have snow on the ground by Christmas morning.
Travel conditions
The weather across the country is expected to be mild for the holiday. Temperatures in the central and southern Great Plains will be 15 to 20 degrees above the seasonal average.
The main weather events will impact the southern Plains and lower Mississippi Valley with ongoing storms, as well as the West Coast, where a series of storms will bring heavy rainfall and snow to the mountainous regions from Washington to California.
