A wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow will create slippery travel conditions this Saturday. Warmer air will bring above-average temperatures on Sunday and into the start of the work week.
Winter weather advisory
The primary concern with the forecast is a light glaze of ice, which will create slick road conditions. Winter weather advisories remain in effect across the state due to the hazardous travel conditions.
Precipitation amounts with this system will be light. Ice accumulations are expected to be less than one-tenth of an inch, with snowfall generally around a trace to less than an inch.
The system will continue into Wisconsin until midnight or later, but will move out of Minnesota by the start of Sunday.

Warmer temperatures for the weekend
A pleasant warmup is in store for the weekend, with high temperatures rising into the upper 20s to low 30s across the metro area and southeastern Minnesota on Saturday.
Sunday will bring even warmer temperatures in the mid-30s, but fog and low cloud cover will make the day feel a bit dreary.
Mild overnight lows in the upper 20s are expected with fog developing.
Several fast-moving systems will impact different parts of Minnesota next week, but no significant weather disruptions are expected. Our first system will be Sunday night into Monday. This first system will cover northern Minnesota, with the metro area possibly seeing a little rain-snow mixture.
A cold front will bring temperatures closer to the average on Tuesday, which is also when the next system is expected to move through southern Minnesota.
