Winter weather advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. While only light amounts of precipitation are expected, the possibility of a light ice glaze has prompted the advisory.
Precipitation will start Friday evening in the southern part of the state and move north, reaching the Twin Cities by sunrise.
While the main system will remain south of our region, moving across the Middle Missouri Valley, enough warm air will be drawn into the area to create concerns for sleet and freezing rain.
