Warmer with an active pattern into next week
We’ll crawl out of our deep freeze Friday as the arctic air retreats. After a frigid start, temperatures will be considerably warmer than Thursday though still below normal. Highs will mostly be in the teens.
Three systems will affect the region with a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain and potential snow. The first system moves in Friday night into Saturday. Freezing rain, sleet and snow are all possible across southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for southern Minnesota Friday night into Saturday, including the Twin Cities.

Some ice accumulation is possible across much of southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin as temperatures will be right near or below freezing at the surface with warmer air aloft.
In addition to the wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet, some slushy snowfall accumulation will be possible.
High temperatures Saturday will be just below freezing, making it potentially icy with any freezing rain that develops on untreated surfaces.
Highs will be above freezing by Sunday and Monday, in the mid to upper 30s for southern Minnesota.
Another system is possible Sunday night into Monday bringing both rain and snow to Minnesota with snowfall accumulation most favored in northern Minnesota.
After that, yet another system could bring a narrow area of snow to the state Wednesday.
