Expect a sunny Saturday with warm temperatures. Northeastern Minnesota will experience a wintry mix, bringing light snow accumulation. A cooldown is forecast for the middle of the week.

Mother Nature is delivering perfect timing with a surge of warm air expected this weekend. Saturday and Sunday will see high temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above the average high of 32. Southwestern Minnesota could see highs in the lower 50s.

Sunshine is forecast for central and southern Minnesota, while cloud cover will linger in the northern parts of the state due to a passing clipper system.

Saturday night will bring mild lows, ranging from the mid to upper 20s. Clouds will start to filter in as the northern clipper system moves through.

Increased cloud cover on Sunday will keep temperatures in the lower 40s, while southwestern Minnesota could reach the lower 50s. Precipitation from the clipper system is expected to remain north of the metro area.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. for the Arrowhead region. A light wintry mix of snow and freezing rain will persist into early Saturday afternoon. Cook County is expected to see light snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches.

Cold blast next week

Another blast of arctic air is set to move in next week, bringing temperatures down to the 20s on Tuesday and into the teens by Wednesday. No precipitation is expected beyond next Monday, when light snow showers may occur as another system moves out of the region.
