Subfreezing air has arrived in Minnesota, which means we are watching for any little weather disturbance that can wring out some snow.

Our next candidate arrives on Wednesday. A weak weather ripple looks likely to trigger a zone of light snow across central and southern Minnesota. The system looks weak but it may be enough to send some flakes earthward.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s FV3 model is among those that develop light snow in western Minnesota early Wednesday morning and slide it across southern Minnesota through Wednesday evening.

The forecast model loop below runs between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday. The most likely time for light snow in the Twin Cities is during the afternoon hours.

As you can see on the image at the top of this post, snowfall totals will likely be less than an inch across Minnesota.

But with temperatures below freezing, any dusting can cause a few slick spots on roads.

We may see a few snow flurries across Minnesota on Thanksgiving Day. It will be colder with temperatures falling on gusty northwest winds to 30 mph.

The cold beverages will keep nicely on the porch on Thursday. Just make sure they don't freeze.
