Much of Minnesota recorded the heaviest rainfall in eight weeks Thursday night. Our frontal system produced a nice swatch of meaningful rain from southwestern Minnesota through the Twin Cities and beyond. Check out the rainfall map at the top of this post.

The 0.48 of an inch of rain at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was the most rainfall in eight weeks, when 0.37 of an inch fell on Aug. 29!

Classic fall weekend ahead
This weekend brings an autumnal feel. Bright sunshine on crisp mornings gives way to milder afternoons. Widespread frost and freezing temperatures will occur Saturday morning.
Minnesota National Weather Service offices have stopped issuing frost and freeze advisories because most areas in Minnesota have already seen freezing temperatures this fall.
The coldest temperature so far this fall at MSP airport is 34 degrees. We’ll come close to that again Saturday morning.
Highs on Saturday will be mostly in the 50s with light winds.
Sunday brings milder temperatures by the afternoon.
Highs in the 70s return to southern Minnesota next Monday and Tuesday.
