The very warm, dry weather continues into the weekend along with sunny skies. There’s little rain in the forecast and only a brief cool spell midweek next week. 

Is it the end of September or mid-August?

You’d be forgiven for confusing this upcoming weekend temperature forecast with a mid-August forecast versus the last weekend of September. In fact, September temperatures have been averaging what a normal August should. These final days of the month are easily pushing us to the warmest September on record and, for some, the driest, such as in the Twin Cities. 

Highs Friday will be more of the same; mostly 80s in southern Minnesota with sunny skies. 

The anomalous warmth persists right through Monday, the final day of September, with highs of 80 or more degrees in southern Minnesota and 70s north. All weekend will continue to be dry and sunny. 

If you’re looking for rainfall, you’re out of luck. There might be a minor system late next week, but otherwise our brief shot of cool air for Tuesday and Wednesday will come without many clouds or even a rain shower. 7 day rainfall forecasts still show little or nothing for Minnesota.

That late Monday cool front will however bring near-normal or slightly below-normal temperatures briefly for Tuesday. At least slightly-above normal temps are likely to return late next week. 

Highs Tuesday will be in the 60s and 50s. Normal highs on October 1st range from mid 60s south to upper 50s north.
