Scattered showers and storms will be possible in northern Minnesota Monday into Tuesday near a frontal boundary. Southern Minnesota will be very warm and muggy. Statewide rain chances increase later in the week. 

Continued warm, muggy weather with thunder north Monday and Tuesday

Statewide temperature anomalies (departure from normal) averaged out Monday through Friday this week, ranging from 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Monday will be another very warm day with highs in the mid to upper 80s across southern Minnesota. Eighty-degree temperatures will reach all the way to the international border.

Northern Minnesota will see spotty to scattered showers and thunderstorms on the northern edge of a warm, muggy air mass Monday into Monday night and Tuesday.

There’s a slight risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather in the northwest part of the state for storms that particularly develop Monday evening.

Tuesday through Friday will continue to bring 80-degree high temperatures to southern Minnesota, but one element of our pattern will change significantly: rainfall. While the first half of this month has been very dry, the pattern becomes much more active statewide starting late Wednesday into early next week with several disturbances bringing rain and thunder chances.

Total rainfall Thursday through next Tuesday will be more than 1 inch for much of Minnesota. Some places could see as much as 3-4 inches in total.

Temperatures also look to cool to normal levels by the weekend and next week which equates to highs in the 70s south and 60s north.
