We’re counting the days left in meteorological summer.

Meteorological fall begins on Sunday, September 1. And it appears the weather maps are in sync with the meteorological calendar this year.

A series of cool fronts will sweep south from Canada and usher in cooler and drier air over the next several days. Wednesday brings less humidity with highs in the 70s.

A cold front arrives Thursday with another chance for showers and a few thunderstorms.

NOAA’s paints a marginal risk (category 1 of 5) for a severe storm across much of Minnesota on Thursday. A slight (category 2 of 5) risk zone covers much of southern Minnesota.

Overall the Labor Day weekend looks cooler, less humid, and mainly sunny.

Highs on Saturday will be in the 70s north to around 80 south.
