A semi driver got into trouble Tuesday trying to cross under a low-clearance railroad bridge in Cottage Grove.
Photos shared by Cottage Grove police showed the top of the cab sheared off and the full-size trailer broken and stuck beneath the bridge.
It happened Tuesday morning on 103rd Street South heading toward Grey Cloud Island. Warning signs are posted to alert drivers the clearance is only 10 feet, 4 inches. There also are stop signs at the bridge because of the narrow width of the road as it passes underneath.
Authorities said the driver was not injured. Cottage Grove police said the driver “was unfamiliar with Cottage Grove and got lost trying to make a delivery to the business park.”
The road was closed for a time to allow crews to clean up the crash scene.
The bridge carries rail traffic between Hastings and the Twin Cities.
