Parts of Minnesota saw 3-5 inches of rain overnight into Monday

It was another thundery and partially sleep-deprived night for many in Minnesota. Waves of strong to severe storms battered our region again Sunday and Sunday night into early Monday morning.

Multi-inch rainfall totals were recorded across much of central Minnesota overnight into early Monday. Several areas south and west of the Twin Cities picked up between 3 and 5 inches of rainfall.

Flood warnings are in effect for several areas around central Minnesota due to locally heavy rainfall and rising creeks and rivers.

Next storms Tuesday

Monday night brings a better chance for uninterrupted sleep across Minnesota, but our next storm front arrives Tuesday afternoon.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Weather Research and Forecasting model shows storms developing along a line in western Minnesota by midday Tuesday. The broken storm line then races east into eastern Minnesota late Tuesday afternoon into the evening.

Wednesday through Friday look cooler and less humid with highs generally in the 70s south and some 60s north. The coolest day is Thursday with some 50s in northeastern Minnesota!
