A pillar in the downtown Fargo community, Zandbroz Variety store, is closing its doors after 33 years, it announced Wednesday.

On its Facebook page, the store said it “has always been about more than transactions; it’s been a place for culture and interaction. We have tried to make it a welcoming place that feels like more than just a trip to the store.”

Its Sioux Falls, S.D., store will remain open.

Finland bound! Moorhead’s Sam Laurila is set to play in the International Ice Hockey Federation U18 Men’s World Championship, as part of the U.S. National Team, the Fargo Forum reports.

Sen. Nicole Mitchell’s legal troubles consumed the Minnesota State Capitol on the first day back from a short recess. The situation has put the power dynamic and policy prospects in question for the last four weeks of the legislative session.

On Thursday, Red Raven is hosting an open mic night. A social (complete with pizza and trivia) for folks in downtown Fargo is Thursday night. The Moorhead Public Library is hosting a beginner hiking talk. It’s also Puzzle Night at the 1889.
