Plenty of 60s on Monday; afternoon/evening shower chance Monday & Tuesday
Above-normal temps in early May
It was a sun-splashed Sunday across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with highs in the 50s to lower 60s.
The Sunday high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 61 degrees. That was a couple of degrees warmer than the average April 21 Twin Cities high of 59 degrees.
Temperature trends
Low temperatures will be in the 30s across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin late Sunday night into early Monday.
Twin Cities metro area lows are expected to be mainly in the upper 30s, but a few spots around the edges of the metro could reach the mid 30s. Parts of northeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin could dip into the lower 30s, with spotty upper 20s also possible.

Monday highs will reach the 60s in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
Some spots in southwestern Minnesota could top 70 degrees Monday afternoon. There will be some 50s in Cook County and parts of Lake County in northeastern Minnesota.
Tuesday high temps will range from 40s in far northern Minnesota to lower 60s in the far south:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to be in the upper 50s on Wednesday, followed by lower 60s Thursday then upper 50s on Friday. Metro area highs could be in the 60s next weekend.
The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temperatures in Minnesota and Wisconsin from the end of April through the first few days of May:
Rain chances
Scattered showers could move into northwestern Minnesota Monday morning. Scattered showers are possible anywhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Monday afternoon and evening. An isolated thunderstorm is also possible.
There will also be a chance of scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from noon Monday to 10 p.m. Tuesday:
Wednesday looks dry, then the chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Thursday afternoon and evening. We’ll probably see some showers at times on Friday and into Friday night, with a thunderstorm also possible.
