Weather whiplash to an extreme is taking place across Minnesota. Temperatures will plummet Tuesday night after many areas get fresh snow. Then it’s back to record warmth this weekend.
Snow flies, temps drop before rising again
Heavy snow has already been falling for several hours in northwestern Minnesota. Blizzard and winter storm warnings are posted for portions of northwestern and northern Minnesota Tuesday through 6 p.m. where the most snow will fall accompanied by wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph.
As of 11 a.m. Tuesday, the sharp contrast in both temperature and wind speed was evident. Temperatures will drop through the afternoon across eastern Minnesota.
Snow will expand and develop through the day from northern Minnesota into southeastern Minnesota by Tuesday evening and into early Wednesday. Those gusty winds will expand statewide by the afternoon.
