A warm Sunday, then a warmer Monday

The Sunday morning low temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 33 degrees. That resembles the average Feb. 25 Twin Cities high temperature, which is 32 degrees.

Twin Cities metro area highs are forecast to reach the upper 40s Sunday afternoon, with a few spots in the metro touching 50. Much of Minnesota plus west-central Wisconsin will have Sunday highs in the 40s, with lower 50s in far southern Minnesota and 30s in much of the northern third of Minnesota:

Winds shift to the south on Monday, allowing very warm afternoon highs. Much of the southern half of Minnesota will see Monday afternoon highs in the 60s, with plenty of 50s to the north:

Precipitation chances

Most of Sunday looks dry. A stray flurry is possible in northern and central Minnesota Sunday morning, with a brief sprinkle possible in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday afternoon and early Sunday evening.

Far northern Minnesota could see some snow showers or a wintry mix late Sunday night and early Monday morning. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 11 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday:
