Our weekend weather won’t interfere with too many outdoor plans. It’ll be good weather for cross-country skiers, snowboarders and kids who want to use their sleds.
Minnesota snow depths
The snow that arrived Wednesday and lasted into Wednesday night blanketed much of the southern half of Minnesota. The Minnesota State Climatology Office released the updated snow depth map on Thursday:
The green-shaded areas have between 4 and 8 inches of snow cover, with 2 to 4 inches in the areas that are shaded yellow.
Weekend temperatures
The coldest weekend temperatures will be early Saturday morning, with many spots dipping into the single digits:

Temperatures will recover nicely on Saturday with afternoon highs in the 30s in most areas:
Parts of far northern Minnesota will top out in the upper 20s.
Twin Cities metro area highs will be in the lower 30s Saturday. That’s slightly milder than the average Feb. 17 Twin Cities high temperature of 29 degrees.
Winds will be gusty Saturday afternoon, topping 30 mph at times:
Sunday highs will be in the 30s across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with some 20s in far northern Minnesota:
Weekend looks dry
Parts of far northern Minnesota could see some light snow showers or flurries Saturday morning, but most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin should have a dry weekend.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s High Resolution Rapid-Refresh forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 4 a.m. to noon on Saturday:
