Dense fog advisory in some areas Sunday morning

Light winds overnight allowed fog to develop over much of Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin. Some areas have freezing fog.

Fog lingers Sunday morning in many areas, and a dense fog advisory continues until noon Sunday in a wide swath of Minnesota, including the western portion of the Twin Cities metro area:

A dense fog advisory expires at 10 a.m. Sunday in parts of northern Minnesota, including Bemidji and Brainerd:

Any sun today?

Western Minnesota will have plenty of sunshine today, after the morning fog burns off. Portions of eastern Minnesota will see some breaks develop in the cloud cover during the afternoon hours.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential cloud coverage from 8 a.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. Sunday:

Unusually warm

The average Twin Cities high temperature is 24 degrees on Jan. 28. Some spots in the metro area will touch 40 degrees Sunday afternoon.

Sunday high temperatures will be mainly in the 30s, but several locations in southwestern and west-central Minnesota will reach the 40s:
