Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Foggy air, new info on man who killed Fargo officer

The Fargo-Moorhead area will see a foggy Thursday into Friday. High temperatures are sitting at 32 degrees through Saturday, when we may see some patchy blowing snow. We warm to 40 degrees come Monday!

From the Fargo Forum: Newly released documents report the late Mohamad Barakat, who killed a Fargo officer when he opened fire in July, had more police interactions “than previously reported,” including burglary and a suicidal report.

Here are a few other stories impacting greater Minnesota that caught our eye:

• A Native-led renewable energy program startup is sending millions of dollars worth of electric vehicles to two tribal communities in Minnesota and North Dakota.

• An audit of Minnesota post office branches found delayed mail, safety issues and deficiencies in property conditions. Now, the U.S. Postal Service says it will perform an audit of the entire Minnesota-North Dakota District.

• In Ojibwe tradition, snow on the ground means it’s sacred storytelling season. The MPR News Native News team of Leah Lemm and Melissa Olson discuss the significance of the season with James Vukelich Kaagegaabaw, author of “The Seven Generations and The Seven Grandfather Teachings.”

• Got $2.50? Perhaps head to the boat and marine show at the Fargodome Friday through Sunday to reminisce about summer.

• The Frostival is still in full swing; check out its schedule of events (like the Frozen Fortress and 10-minute plays).

• The area’s vintage and flea market is Friday night.

• Girls in kindergarten through the 12th grade can attend the In My Adventure Girl Era party on Saturday. Happenings include crafts and cookie tasting.
