Morning dense fog. Mild, dreary weather continues

Low clouds, fog and mild weather continues the next few days. Some spotty, wintry precipitation is possible Thursday. Temperatures will be even warmer next week. 

Record fog and more mild weather 

The fog has reached record levels with 1,517 counties included in some form of fog advisories. The fog stretches from Texas to New York and from the Dakotas to Arkansas and Tennessee, that’s over one million square miles of fog!

The fog is in the form of freezing fog with some patchy freezing drizzle where temperatures are below freezing, mainly in northern and western Minnesota Thursday morning. The fog will continue in one form or another into Friday. A dense fog advisory continues for central and southern Minnesota until noon Thursday.

By afternoon Thursday, highs are back above freezing for most of the state.

There will be a few sprinkles or patchy mixed precipitation Thursday, especially in southeast Minnesota, from a minor disturbance moving through the region.

Watch for some slick areas again Thursday night as temperatures fall to near or slightly below freezing.

Next week will bring even warmer readings in the 40s and potentially even 50 degrees.

After a cloudy week, we should finally see some sunshine break out Saturday, especially in western Minnesota with better chances of brighter skies Sunday and Monday.
