Weekend weather: Dry; chilliest temps Saturday

Some areas will reach the 20s Sunday afternoon

I’ll get to the weekend forecast after a quick update on our Thursday snow chances.

A clipper system will bring snow to much of southern Minnesota and west-central Minnesota Thursday into Thursday evening. Some spots in far southwestern Minnesota could see 2 to 3 inches of snow.

The Twin Cities metro area and parts of central Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin could see some light snow showers at times Thursday afternoon and evening.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 2 p.m. Thursday through 10 p.m. Thursday:

The snow pattern may shift northward a bit.

Dry weekend

Most of Minnesota and Wisconsin will have a precipitation-free weekend.

Low temperatures early Saturday morning will reach the teens below zero across much of Minnesota:

Lows in the single digits below zero are expected Saturday morning in the Twin Cities metro area and in western Wisconsin.

The average Twin Cities high temperature is 23 degrees on Jan. 20. Metro area highs will be closer to 10 degrees this Saturday. Much of Minnesota will have single-digit high temps Saturday afternoon:
