Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Subzero weekend ahead, recovery writing night and more

There’s a slight chance of snow Wednesday. It should be dry and partly sunny with highs approaching zero and below this week, with another chance of snow Friday and Saturday. On Sunday we’ll see a high of -4.

In a recent records request from the Fargo Forum, it reports in 2016, Mohamad Barakat surrendered firearms and said he was afraid of being labeled a “violent person.” Barakat fatally shot a Fargo police officer over the summer.

North Dakota state climatologist Adnan Akyüz, who was also a popular North Dakota State University weather professor, died from cancer at age 62.

In what could become a blueprint for similar Minnesota communities, Lake City has returned ownership of Dakota burial mounds back to their modern-day relatives at Prairie Island Indian Community.

A writing night for folks in recovery of any kind is at Parachigo Wednesday night. Open mic comedy at the Cellar is also Wednesday night.

On Thursday, visit The Rourke Art Gallery Museum’s lecture on asinine symbology or food systems B-I-N-G-O at Front Street Taproom. Parachigo is also hosting a free poetry open mic night on Thursday.
