Some snow reports; advisory continues in SE Minnesota

A mix of freezing drizzle and snow made many streets and highways slippery Saturday evening and overnight. The snow has ended in many areas, but patchy light snow showers are possible Sunday morning, especially in Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota and eastern Iowa. The snow will linger into afternoon in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Parts of the Twin Cities metro area could see a few scattered light snow showers Sunday morning.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale Forecast System model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 8 a.m. Sunday through 5 p.m. Sunday:

How much snow?

The official snow total through 6 a.m. Sunday at MSP airport was 0.7 (seven-tenths) of an inch. I measured one inch of new snow in St. Paul. The NWS office in Chanhassen tallied 0.8 of an inch, St. Cloud reported 0.4 of an inch.

Metro area totals ranged from 0.4 of an inch in Victoria and Long Lake to 1.5 inches in Oakdale.

Temperatures

The average Twin Cities high temperature is 25 degrees this time of year. Metro area highs will be closer to 30 Sunday afternoon.

Much of Minnesota will have Sunday highs in the 20s, with lower 30s in southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
