As Minnesota U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips faces a Friday deadline to file for candidacy in New Hampshire if he intends to run for president, the Democrat has not yet formally confirmed whether or not he’s running.
But video posted to social media Tuesday shows a bus traveling an Ohio freeway emblazoned with “Dean Phillips for President” logos.
The video shared by Amy Waller also shows the bus displaying the address for a “Dean 24” website. That domain name was registered earlier this month but the site isn’t yet public.
KARE 11’s Jana Shortal reported she texted Phillips about the sighting, and his response was “that’s a great looking bus.”
Phillips — who’s represented Minnesota 3rd District in the western Twin Cities metro since 2019 — has previously said his party should field an alternative to Democratic incumbent President Joe Biden.
“It’s healthy to have alternatives. I think voters are demanding it. That’s what I am trying to articulate is the numbers are clear: Americans want more choice and our duopoly, our political industrial complex is doing a very effective job at preventing that very competition,” Phillips told MPR News earlier this month.
