The spring storm that first reached into Minnesota on Thursday is still spinning over the western Great Lakes. Rain has become spotty as it tries to end over eastern Minnesota. Areas of rain remain scattered across parts of Wisconsin while rain and wet snow will continue across northern Wisconsin. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect into Monday for Wisconsin’s Ashland and Iron counties including the Ashland and Hurley areas.
Most of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is also in a Winter Storm Warning and can expect snowfall totals of 1 to 2 feet.

Blustery Sunday
Chilly afternoon temperatures for late April have been made chillier by a blustery wind from the north and northwest. Wheaton, Granite Falls and Worthington are among the locations in western Minnesota reporting wind gusts over 50 mph Sunday afternoon. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. for western and southern Minnesota.

A Wind Advisory will remain in effect until Tuesday morning for the North Shore from the Duluth area to Grand Portage at the tip of the Arrowhead.

Rather pleasant week coming
Skies will brighten on Monday and temperatures will climb a bit as the low pressure system shifts slowly eastward and dry high pressure builds in from the west. Expect high temperatures mainly in the 50s, with cooler 40s in the Arrowhead. The Twin Cities should reach about 55 degrees. Winds will weaken just a bit with gusts to around 40 mph in open areas.
Winds will back off even more for Tuesday and temperatures should warm into the 50s just about statewide.
The winners for the week will probably be Wednesday and Thursday with high temperatures forecast for 60s to mid 70s, but cooler near Lake Superior.

Comfortable temperatures will continue into next weekend with just the chance of a few scattered showers later in the week.
Looking farther ahead
The temperature outlook for all of May for Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa is for about equal chances for above-average or below-average temperatures. After the last couple months, average May temperatures sound delightful.
